I wrote a long post here which got me nowhere but then I did have another thought. The aa of course help the drinker to recognise the enemy within himself and this then becomes a blessing because it also reveals to them where God is. Somehow understanding our real enemy leads us closer to God. . . . I still think that, until each person recognises his own real enemy, he is likely to go looking in the wrong place. The 'world', of course, always does. [Look in the wrong place I mean.] That led me to think about the really great parable about the splinter and the plank.(Matt 7:3) I think that parable sums up the whole Christian message. If Jesus never told us anything else but that it would almost have been enough.
