Well, the Tooth Fairy is one of those broad, dumb-ass comedies that Hollywood goes for, but it still made a good movie night for me and my YF. And it actually made him admit that he sometimes likes kids' movies more than the gory, blood-soaked things he 'officially' goes for as a teen boy. But if you want to see a heartwarming (in fact, so over-the-top is passes right through overkill and reaches high-camp heaven) boy movie, the one to look for is Pour Toujour les Canadiens (The Canadians Forever), which I saw at a festival earlier this year - with subtitles of course. An agonized 17 year old with peer pressure and family problems finally finds his way, and a hospitalized 10 year old (the ultra cute Antoine L'Ecuyer) finds his cure, all through the wonders of hockey. Specifically the pride of French Canada, the Montreal Canadiens team. This movie, he shoot, he score, what can I say? By the way, if anyone hasn't yet seen Antoine's other movie, 'It wasn't me I swear' *http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%27est_pas_moi,_je_le_jure!_(film) then do yourself a favor and order it online or find a torrent for it. It's as if Homer, the Greek poet, wrote an epic about a troubled little boy in the Quebec suburbs. It may be terrible for me to say this, but Antoine dresses in tight shorts throughout. An amazing experience all in all. • ( http link ) Pour Toujours les Canadiens [Anonymouse] |
