I don't believe there is such thing as a "soul mate". Anyone who relies on such a romanticized concept for their happiness will some day have to face the fact that this isn't a Hollywood movie and real life doesn't work that way. It's as true for you as for any straight, gay, or bisexual person.

However, I do understand what you say about companionship. It would be great to have someone to share life with; I feel the same way. But talk to any married couple willing to be honest and you will discover that the feelings change and eventually what you are left with in a successful marriage is two best friends who live together. That sounds a lot more doable to me than a mythical Hollywood romance.

Some BLs have found that marriage is actually the right way to go for them. They have managed to find someone who accepts them as they are and they are able to make the marriage work albeit, with a less than exciting sex life. Others have found that they can have that companionship by having really close best friends, perhaps even other BLs in their area. Still others have learned to live without companionship or to rely on distant "best friends" they interact with through the internet.

Personally, I think the ideal for me would be to have a BL best friend who lived close by. Someone who shared a lot of my interests and whom I could be completely honest with and hang out with regularly. I actually had something like that not long and it was truly wonderful. It ended due to practical considerations that forced him to move away, but while it lasted it was great. I know other BLs who live near each other and have formed their own mini-communities and I think for some of them, these networks of BL friends serve a similar purpose.

I don't know what your particular solution is. But I know it would never be the Hollywood romance idea even if you were to wake up straight tomorrow.
