So sorry to hear of your difficulties.
If you could start your friendships a couple of years earlier in the future you would have two more years to mentor, influence and enjoy their friendship before they grow up and go their own way.
I also think that boys from the age of 10 or 11 with absent fathers would benefit far more from our friendships than those from married couples.
