One of the wonders of the Christian faith is that it is built on the previous revelations of God down through the years. The OT prophesies the coming of Jesus, and He uses it to legitimate His ministry again and again.

Therefore any new revelation that doesn't have that level of historical rootedness is defective. If you want to invent a cute new religion that suits your personal choices, feel free. But don't try and call it Christianity; it ain't.

We have a duty to determine whether our preaching is indeed of God and of His grace - or a watered down 'gospel' that offers nothing real.
