It seems to me that the Good News may well be too good for people to believe. So we add conditions, caveats, warnings, etc. to make it perhaps a bit more believable. I mean, it can't be that good, that easy can it? Well, yes it can. And, as you've found, when someone starts talking truly unconditional love, as only God can give, it makes a lot of folks uncomfortable. For years, when I heard such talk it'd trigger anger in me, 'cause I'd think, "Yeah for you maybe, but not for me!" It took me a long time and a lot of anger before I got past that to the truth that, yes...it is all of us he loves so dearly, and wants us to do the same. ---Ford |
