is to say that for me I have been very blessed over the years by the relationships that have remained unsexualised, but the ones that grew a sexual component, in the broadest sense, were far less positive. This was especially the case with my one boy - man relationship as a teenager; the security guy at my school was one of the things that kept me going at that age, and was an important part of my life. However after I got myself outed as gay and he heard about it, he made a serious pass at me. Whilst I walked away from it and made clear my disapproval, it was a major shadow over our friendship from then on. My response to those stories from NABLA is that there was no need for the friendships to become sexualised, and would have been far healthier if they had not been. It is of course one of the sadder aspects of the present paranoia about paedophiles that the healthy and positive interactions of men and boys are becoming increasingly suspect for parents - to the loss of the boys as well as the men.
