You may recall that his works were condemned by the Church. :) Of course I understand what you are saying and agree that it's wrong for anyone to belong to an organization whose basic beliefs they disagree with (regardless of the organization). It's awfully hard, though, at the time that reformations are taking place, to identify which are the heretics and which are the renewers. Most of the great saints came under strong criticism from their superiors at the time that they were alive. The disagreement between Peter and Paul over doctrinal matters seems to have been so serious that I wouldn't be surprised if there had been calls of heresy from the supporters on both sides of that conflict. Only in hindsight can we say who the heretics were – and even then we shouldn't forget the haunting words, "History is written by the victors." Only God can judge who the true schismatics are.
