I don't usually post here, as I don't consider myself a Christian (I'm more of a new-ager, but open to read and learn about anything.)
There's a new movie out that will be of interest to the regulars here (website linked below). It's called Left Behind (starring Kirk Cameron). They have chosen an interesting way to bring the movie to the public, in that it has been released on video first, and will make its theatrical debut February 2, 2001. The producers of the movie want to give the public a taste of the story first and give them a chance to tell others about it, so hopefully a lot of people will go see it.
The story is based on the first book in the Left Behind series of what is (so far) a six book series. From the website:
In one chaotic moment, millions of people around the world suddenly disappear leaving their clothes, wedding rings, eyeglasses, and shoes in crumpled piles. Mass confusion hits as vehicles, suddenly unmanned, veer out of control. Fires erupt and hysteria breaks out as those left behind stare in disbelief and fear at the empty places that were occupied just seconds before by their loved ones. This is the rapture that God has planned as the first sign to begin the unraveling of the end of time.
Further books in the series tell of the rise in power of the Anti-Christ, and of the chaotic seven year tribulation.
If the film does well in theaters, the producers will then make sequels based upon the other books in the series. I've read the first six books and eagerly look forward to more as they are released. And the movie was excellent...well acted, well produced.
