Anyone care to hear my opinion (hehe, I am opinionated! That's what I get for being a drama queen!)

I come from a Missouri Synod Lutheran background, which is pretty fundamentalistic. I've become a bit more open minded as I've grown up, but the core of my faith is still grounded in traditional evangelical Christian concepts. So please forgive me, if I offend anyone who is coming from a different tradition.

It's impossible to get away from grace in the Lutheran tradition. That is the very center of everything in Lutheranism. So that is why I have the perspective that I have. Of course, Lutherans are sometimes accused of being too "permissive", since we focus on grace so much.

Here is just my OPINION on these matters. I'm not trying to be doctrinal. You can take it or leave it.

1. Satan: I belive that the Spirit world is as real as the physical world. I think that God, the devil, angels, and such, are all real, living beings, just like we are, with their own minds and powers. I really believe this, not just because I was taught to, but because I have had some personal experiences of spiritual awareness in my life, that have made it pretty clear to me that things like angels and demons are real, living beings. And of course, God and Jesus, who are far more powerful and exalted than any of the others. Now, a lot of people might think this is nuts, but please respect my experiences, and let me just share this as my personal faith. I'm not trying to convert anyone to my view! But just because Satan is a real personality in my mind, doesn't mean that I don't think humans have a responsibility to deal with evil on a human level, of course we do, and evil can certainly be understood as an abstract concept. But I'm not sure what else to say about it.

2. Genetics and sexual orientation: Here's where I'm totally different from most people raised as fundamentalists. I have given up on the concepts of both natural law, and religious law. I have come to the point of believing that the new covenant of grace in Jesus Christ makes the law completely irrelevant. The whole creation is fallen and broken, and it's kind of a waste of time to try to figure out WHY certain things are the way they are; so I believe that Christians are under no obligation to uphold any of the laws in the Old Testament (read the letter to the Hebrews). If we were supposed to do that, wouldn't it mean that Christ's death wasn't good enough to take away our sins? It is up to God to fix things, not us by ourselves. We ought to obey the law of love, that is, love God first, then your neighbor as yourself, and do no harm to your neighbor. Simple. So I think it doesn't really matter what CAUSES boylove, or anything else, as long as you can live with it honorably. (But I would prefer to think that it is not a mistake. Am I the only one who thinks that there is something cool in the idea that it could be a blessing? Who wouldn't want to love boys? What boy would not want to be loved and cared for? Boys are cool!) Gee, I'm starting to sound like a BL myself. Well, like I said, I'm kind of in that gray area!!
