"Children are untainted versions of humanity; they don't carry all the baggage that adults have. But that is exactly why kids need to be treated with care and respect, because they are trusting and innocent." They might be "untainted versions fo humanity" in some ways, but they are certainly NOT trusting and innocent. The bullying and abuse on the elementary school playground is as animalistic as any human behavior, except maybe "ethnic cleansing." And I have certainly come in contact with kids who had more sexual experience (and wisdom) than most adults. Real respect comes by assuming people are your equals, not by putting them on a pedestal and taking away the ladder. |
