Protection for kids.

You could make the same (flawed) argument about battered wives. They should stay home because it's even more nasty "out there."

If kids are scared, then OBVIOUSLY it ISN'T a protective environment!

The best way to give the most children the most protective environment is TO GIVE THEM THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE TO CHANGE IT!
