C'mon people, this fighting is not giving anyone here a good name. You know, I have said a lot of very liberal and potentially controversial things, but just by being nice about it, and "owning" my opinions without trying to force anyone to agree, no one has flamed me yet. Cut Heather some slack. She is not a man, so she can't know what it feels like to be a man who is attracted to boys. [In case anyone DOESN'T know, boylove can involve a rather intense set of feelings.] She is probably trying the best she can, although personally, I do not agree with people who take an "assimilationist" tack towards the rights of sexual minorities. *I* believe it is more important for the issues of boylove to be discussed between the two parties most directly involved, that is, boys and boylovers, [that's why I'm here], than for straights to try to tell us what they would "allow" us to do and not do. But of course, I am an idealist, and while I respect the limitations of reality in the way I live my life, I am not going to water down my beliefs, when I am speaking in purely theoretical terms. I think mvanhouten probably has good intentions too; some things he says are no more radical that what has been printed in XY magazine, but unnecessary fighting and arguing are not going to get us anywhere. That is one reason why I used to stay away from CBF and BoyChat, because I didn't like all the personal flaming of people. I think honestly, boys probably don't like to see adults acting so hateful towards each other, either. Let's work on showing how we can be GENTLE and HELPFUL to each other, then maybe people will see that BLers can be good role models for their boys!! |
