Christian and Atheist Boylove?

Submitted by David on January 12 2001 03:00:19

I just had a interesting question:
What distinquishes the Christian boylover from the Atheist Boylover? Is it our desire to include a divine Other in our thinking, or is it the idea that prayer will bring about freedom, is it a way of finding metaphysical responses to our own boylove? What is our unique charism? This board seems to be full of rather intelleignt, if not marginalized, people, and so I beg an answer. Some would say that atheistic/non-religious boylovers actually do more godd for boylove and self-understanding than do Christians. For they accept no outside helkp and make themslevs the god of their own boylove and thus see it's liberation in such a circumstance. Whereas our faith was the reason boylove was initally opressed, and our reiligion continues to condemn it, and except for a few old left Leninists, the movement seems to be hated by everyone. As Christians do we offer a hope, which is uniquely Christian, to boylove? What distinguishes us from Jewish, Muslim, Pagan, Hindu, and Buddhist boylovers? Is it the fact that we can see our God, as a boylover in Jesus Christ? The Buddhist boylover would seek to detach himself from his boylove, and the muslim would supress it, or acxt on it behind closed doors, but as Christians with all it's ideas of evangelization are we called to open liberation? We cannot be a lamp under a peckmeasure. We are to be a city on a hill, and also an abslout duty may be seen by some in boylove, which lacks in other faiths. The Jewish boylover may see himself as a chosen person and so his boylove is also chosen by God, and also the pagan boylover may see his boylove as a opressed part of self implimented by Christian society. We are so very radical as Christian boylovers, because we opressed/s boylove from the very beginning, and we are also boylovers. We are a contradiction in terms, but so was Jesus to be God and human is a contradiction. And so we must idenify our self with that. Emancipation of boylove is not a cause for a few, but for the many. We are alone, we are an island. Even Nambla has caved, and so we as indivduals are alone, and this forum, is the ark of the coveneant. This is the birth pangs of a faith unfolding. Nambla was the Adam os the 1980s, and we are the offspring. But I do want to know what makes the Christian boylove manifesto INDEPENDENTLY unique from the atheistic or other religion boylovers? Is it simply cultural? Or is it more? Even within Christendom we have Catholic versus Protestant boylovers. And so does how does that reconcile. I feel a Catholic boylover may be able to pray a bit more for a arrested priest, or a molested boy, wheras a Protestant boylover would have more sympathy for a man moved by the spirit in his actions for liberation. Regardless we need not be divided within ourselves, and so my quiestion is to you on the indivudual and abstract level, what is unique about your "-Christian- Boylove?" Also how does prayer interact with your own boylove?
