There are members in our Churches who are living with an emotional and sexual attraction to minors. These people know all too well what the consequences of sharing about their attraction would mean for them and their families.

Try adding "emotional and sexual" in the first sentence and deleting "sexual" in the second sentence. I think these two changes are important because it establishes it's not just about sex.

Our Church policies on Child Sexual Abuse often talk about protecting children, but how can we really make true progress if we are shutting out the very people who are thought to be at-risk in harming them?

I think I understand what you're trying to convey here, but I suspect the average heterosexual Christian would think that there is no more progress to be made once we successfully shut out those people who are thought to be at-risk in harming minors. I'm way too braindead right now to even think of an alternate wording on this one.

Incidentally, I think the passage from Timothy is an excellent choice. I wanna be a part of the discussion on this, but I'm afraid I simply won't be able to check in more than once or twice a week....
