Personally, I agree with you. If someone is truly committed to Christ, deep down in their heart, then in the end they will both do God's will and end up with God for eternity.

That doesn't mean that such a person never makes mistakes, or that they can't rebel and go off for a while and do things that are contrary to God's will. But, eventually, a true Christian will come back to God, or Jesus will pull him back. The love of God is so much greater than any other love, that once you have tasted it, you can never be the same. Nothing else could ever be so good or so awesome, not even close. Even when I was at my most lost point in life, there was still a part of me that remembered what Jesus' love was like, and I knew somewhere in my heart that I needed and wanted that back, and that he wanted me and could use me to do good in the world, even though I was messed up in so many other ways. I believe there are many Bible passages to support this view. If you want, I'll list some of them, but there are too many that I am thinking of right now and I can't remember the exact references without looking them up.

Salvation is an act of God, not of man, and the ability, desire, and willigness to carry out God's will may *start* with us, but God is the one who finishes it and finally brings us to himself.

But all these things are true only for one who is truly a Christian, in the sense of being committed to God through a personal relationship with Jesus. It may not apply to one who has never fully made that commitment.
