Dear sequestered, I am seeing a psychologist (court ordered...) who has been asking me these very same questions. He wants me to examine my beliefs much closer. So, all this time from last friday I have been busy thinking of my response. I will tell you what I have so far, ok? First and formost, I believe a good working knowlege of salvation is very vital. I am using the example that Jesus gave us in his parable about the Prodigal son. The more I reflect on this story, the more I see it as the perfect example of our salvation in Jesus Christ. I do not have enough time, unfortunately, to go into details about what I mean, but perhaps you will see my meaning anyway by reading it. I believe that with a good understanding of salvation to build on, and a growing understanding of who we trully are as Christians (our identity, if you will), the questions posed about our sexual orientaion are not such a difficult "hurdle" for us. We ARE most beloved children of God, first and foremost! This is to become a real and absolute identity for us before (I think) any growth as a Christian can occur. And, just like children, we are all growing at a different rate or speed. And, just like children, it takes time to grow. I hope that this might help you to think about your questions in a little different light. I wish I had more time to write, but as I am writing from a public computer (in a library) my time is limited. However, I will try to get back here as soon as I can if you wish to ask me anything. God loves you no matter where you are on the path of faith and there is no question that will be a stumbling block to that faith if you always remember this in your heart! God Bless!!! Love in Christ Jesus, Chris |
