That's not the case, d. A large majority of people in the U.S. believe that queers ought to have the same basic rights as all other people. It's the Chrisitans who are organized against it. It's the Christians who fight the legislation tooth and nail.

As to where rights come from, since I don't believe any gods exist, I don't even want to discuss that point.

But obviously it's the political institions we form that actually grant rights and privileges and actually take them away.

So, I can only say again, why do Christians insist on forcing their morality on people who don't share their beliefs? Why does denying me health care matter to a Christian? How does denying me a job or a place to live make a Christian's life better?

Doesn't make sense, yet Christians are very, very well organized, with at least a couple of very powerful, well funded lobby groups that are designed for just that purpose.
