Hola mi primo. I didn't know you wanted to be a priest!!! How long have you wanted to become a priest?! What order? Dios mio! Ya think ya know a guy! Hmmmmm, "Padre Gabriel" sounds good, has a nice ring to it.;-) The thought of you as a celibate does give one to pause though. It's very sad about what happened to you as a kid, but you shouldn't let it put you off the priesthood. You said you didn't want to be another "pedo priest," but you have already expressed that you would never molest, so what's the problem? The trouble with other pedo-priests that have been brought to the public's attention is that they have taken advantage of their vocation by using it to gain trust and access to vulnerable children. If you think you can prevent yourself from doing that then you might very well make a good man of the cloth. God knows you're enough of a bible-banger. I've been perusing your past posts. "The malignity that lies in the human heart," hmmmm, you've been reading St. Augustine again haven't you? And as far as me "having a hard time of it latly" goes, you should really not spend so much time worrying about me. I'm a big girl and can take care of myself. I should be the least of your concerns right now. I want to recommend a book to you. It's "The Changing Face of the Priesthood" by Donald B. Cozzens. It has a chapter that goes into pedophilia in the priesthood. You might find it interesting. You could probably pick it up at the local Barnes & Noble. Via con Dios. -Alma |
