Hi J,

Oh man have you got me thinking now! I should learn to bring my Bible with me to the Library because I will have to wait to go home to look up the verses you give. I'm sure I have read most of them already, but in context with your post, I will still need to read them again.

My friend, I am working on a kind of theory about sexual relationships or sexual encounters, if you will. And as part of my research "text" I am going to use an article that can be found in the latest issue of Paraklesis. It is an article written about sexual play...I forget the author. You may want to check that out because he brings up some very good points.

Basically, I believe that, while any sex outside of Holy Matrimony is sin, I doubt that it is ALL of the "completely earth-shaking" variety. We must always keep in mind that God knows our hearts and He is very well aware of all of our motives, good or bad. Thus I believe that a sexual encounter between two same-sex people of differing ages can be one that is a very small kind of a sin because it is done with informed consent by both parties involved. OR...a sexual encounter can be a terrible sin because it involves the rape of a ten year old by a thirty year old man! Yes, both still constitute sin, and we must agree that God does hate ALL sin....but I think we must also give God credit for being able to distinguish the end-results of both in the lives of those people involved.

Now, does this mean it is there-for permissable to go ahead and sin in this way? No, I don't think so because (and I am sure the Apostle Paul would agree...) there trully IS no excuse to sin whatsoever. But I think that God does look at the entire person as a whole, not just a "list of sins" but a person who has lived an entire life of good times, bad times, faithful times, and unfaithful as well. In other words, God understands His creations much, much, much better than those creations think He does! At any rate, I am certain that there is nothing that God cannot handle when it comes to us humans....even our greatly varied sexual orientaions.

Well, I must go for now. Thank you for your terrific responses, J! I also like what you had to say about Rock bands and that movie (?) you mentioned....I have never seen it but it sounds interesting. Again, thank you and God Bless!!!

Love In Christ Jesus,
Chris
