Thanks for posting. I think it does everyone good to examine why we each believe what we do. You might want to check out a post titled "courage" a little further down. It has a link to an article you might find very interesting regarding being Christian and gay. I posted my position briefly as a reply.

I don't think being a homosexual is a sin. I don't know of anyone here that does. No where in the Bible does it state that a person's sexual orientation is a sin. But it does, however, state in several places that having sex with one's onw gender is wrong and that sex outside of marriage is wrong. I would really prefer to take a more liberal view, but God didn't check with me before He inspired the Bible. So I have to believe that in God's "perfect" will, a homosexual should remain celibate.

But I am also well aware that none of us are perfect. None of us are following God's will perfectly. So who am I to say that two people in a committed gay relationship are any further from God than me, or anyone else? There are too many Christians (and non-Christians that call themselves Christians) that put sin on a rating scale according to what they personally find offensive. that is wrong. Only God can judge sin. But in the Christian community it becomes a very difficult balancing act. On one hand, we are not to judge others. On the other hand, we are told to encourage fellow Christians to resist temptation and sin. Doing both is a damn hard thing to do. Sometimes I think it's near impossible. I think we, as Christians, are expected to just do the best we can. Love our brothers (and sisters). Encourage each other. Be honest with each other if you see something that you think is interfereing with their Christian walk, and ask for the same honesty from them in regards to your own walk. But how a person lives is ultmately between them and God. Our main task is, and always should be, our own personal relationship with God.
