I knew that interest in girls was acceptable, but interest in boys was "evil". But I was still interested in boys, even into adulthood. So I really think the "suppression" theory is not true.

It's interesting how we can speculate on so many causes for BL: having sexually repressive parents, having sexually permissive parents, having childhood sexual experiences, not being allowed to have childhood sexual experiences, masturbating too early, not being allowed to masturbate, not getting enough affection, getting too much affection from friends, too much nudity, being ashamed of nudity, weak/distant fathers, domineering mothers, overprotective mothers, etc., etc.

Similarly, over the past 50 years, all kinds of speculation was proposed for the cause of homosexuality, but no consistent evidence was ever found to support it. Of course, everyone could supply anecdotes to support their particular theory.

We tend to believe that something is bad (such as domineering mothers, nudity, masturbation, early sexual experiences, whatever) so it must be the cause of our BL. Since everyone's experience was different, everyone has a different theory. Totally straight people also experienced these same things, but never propose it as the cause of their straightness, because straightness is socially acceptable.

I believe that just like there's incredible variety in people's physical, intellectual, and emotional characteristics, there's incredible variety in sexual feelings. They just develop, regardless of what we do or don't do. The authors of "Pedophilia: Biosocial Dimensions" propose hormonal causes at birth, just like the cause of homosexuality. Perhaps there are some early experiences that can influence it too, but the causes and interactions are so complex that it is impossible to control people's sexuality. It may be unethical to try to do so. We have to accept the variations with which God has endowed people, and stop thinking that people are inferior or sick because they are less athletic than average, have different colored skin, are attracted to boys, etc.
