Is there no other Way?

Thanks for your words, Ben. I understand what you're saying.

And I understand what Forgiven was saying. I've been raised to believe the same. Not exactly in those words... :) ...but with the same kind of "force" and "punch" behind the meanings of those words. When we warn our children about something that's hot, we might yell, "If you touch that it's gonna burn your hand off!!" It's similar to how I've been raised in the church, and I still have a friend or two close to me who talk the same way about other religions or what we believe to be false doctrines. I seriously doubt they lack any love for those that are part of those religions and doctrines; it's just their way of talking. Sometimes I'll stop one of them and say, "Hey wait, what you mean by that?" Then they clarify, and it doesn't sound as bad as when they first said it.

Anyway, Ben, you've already pretty much answered the question I'm about to ask. I agree with you, but still something bothers me. Maybe someone else will have something to add?

One of the boys I work with is a young Muslim kid, and he thinks the world of me. He's one of my favorites, and I'm having a tough time as a Christian coming to terms with my beliefs about who makes it to the life hereafter and who doesn't. It's always been my belief that Jesus is the only Way -- we HAVE to accept His sacrifice for the sins of mankind so that we can be accepted by a HOLY God. No one else died for mankind but Jesus. There is no other way. But how do those who don't know Jesus become righteous/saved? The Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11 lists many people who were saved by faith, and many of them didn't know Jesus would have to come as a sacrifice for us... or did they? I believe Abraham did, and if he did, then others must have also known the Gospel message. This issue has always been a tough one for me. Is it possible to NOT know Jesus as Savior and gain eternal life? How so? I know of no other Way.
