Jeremiah 17 v9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? It is attractive to the human heart to want to find excuses to do the things it wants to do even if it knows really that they aren't acceptable to God. The passage you quote is commonly used as a starting point to discard the specific commandments about sexual behaviour on the grounds that 'Love is the rule'. Of course it doesn't work like that - most cheating spouses would claim that they are acting because they love their new partner, but in fact they are still commiting adultery. The promiscuous teenager - at least at first - thinks that they really 'love' their latest boyfriend / girlfriend. But it's not God's way... And of course us boylovers often do the same thing; which is why I'm expressing my doubts about your post! So - welcome aboard; I hope to hear a bit more about you in the next few days and where you are with your relationships. As I've said below, I've got a number of young men in my life that are positive, and non sexual relationships. And I've found the support and encouragement of being on this board amazing valuable as well as I struggle to live the way that I believe is God's way for me - and therefore is really the best, though at times it is really hard. |
