In reply to sex before marriage: What does God expect from me? submitted by coffee_kid on 2002-07-14 01:30:00, Sunday

"The Bible says that sex outside of marriage is wrong, its sin, right? Don't ask me where it is, I haven't got a clue, but I know its in there somewhere :-)"

No... it ain't. She and I went over the bible, bit by bit. 'Adultery' is sex outside of an existing marital contract - 'cheating.'

Doesn't mean you're not welcome to not have sex before marriage, though...

"but what if you NEVER GET MARRIED????? What is you are gay like me?"

Do you consider marriage to be a rite of man, or something that God ordains without respect to human importances?

The answer probably makes the question have different meanings. Should two not be joined as one (guess what - the fundies are perverts; this has nothing explicitly to do with sex), well, that would be one thing.

However, I will happily marry you online, if you want a human rite. Human law be damned...

"Gay people can't get married, its against the law and even if it wasn't, it seems to be against God's law. At least that what it seems like..."

Well, yes - 'lying with man as one would a woman' is outlawed in leviticus, along with the eating of oysters and shaving.

Most people who spend large portions of their life honoring leviticus (more in a sec) by shouting about the 'evil homosexuals' also shave and eat oysters.

...then there's the new testament. "Owe *nothing* to *anyone* except to love one another, for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law" (Rom 13:8).

Those who point fingers alot, decrying the evils of "them... and them!" also tend to like to ignore the new testament when it says things like this. If you want a lot more, I can provide. Here's one that they REALLY hate :

"I know and am convinced that NOTHING is unclean in itself; but to him who thinks anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean." (Rom 14:14)

Apparently, people who think that homosexuality is evil should not be homosexual... but the law died on the cross with Jesus, save that we are called to love our fellow being.

"He can't have sex with kids because it's illegal and probably against God's law."

Not even leviticus asserts this - unless they're your own kids.

"So what do you do?"

Love your fellow being, and do good unto them.

"Do you think there is room for sex with chilren in Gods "rule book" ?"

Well, the talmudic age of consent is three. Christianity was founded more on "I desire compassion, and not sacrifice"... on the law dying on the cross with Jesus, on love being the fulfillment of God's commandments.

...so Christianity would probably be a bit more open minded. If it is good unto them, it is good in God's eyes.

"Do you think God accepts paedophilia or does he condemn it like he condemns homosexuality? Or do you believe that God doesn't comdemn homosexuality?"

I believe God doesn't condemn. Everything I know about him suggests that he is not the God of hatred and spiteful, petty judgement, but the God of love, compassion, understanding and forgiveness.

I believe God wants the fullest happiness for each and every one of His children, just as any good and loving parent.

"Maybe God didn't make me gay, maybe its because of something else, I don't really know. But the fact is, I am gay, I am attracted to other boys. I fantasise about other boys, I'm NOT turned on by girls. I can watch a straight porno and not get turned on. I can go to the beach and sit near a topless women and not get turned on. But if I watch a gay porno or sit near a shirtless guy who is really hot, my hormones go wild!!!! And I get hard, instantly!"

Huzzah! I love and accept you, knowing that we all stand equal before God.

"Sorry, I'm being too expressive. But you understand what I'm saying right?
What does God expect from me?"

That I have been shown, this :

"Why is my freedom judged by another's conscience? If I partake with thankfulness, why am I slandered concerning that for which I give thanks? Whether, then, you eat or drink or WHATEVER you do, do all to the Glory of God.:

1 Cor 10:29-32

I would suggest that you give thanks for that which you have been made to be thankful for. Rest assured, an omnipotent God is not impotent - if He has a qualm, he can tell you this quite well without the need for any scribe, pharisee, or other breed of hypocrite to force it upon you... and will.

Be not ashamed that your heart is thankful, for such is a gift from and to God.
