Hey Brother,

Can we be Blues Brothers? Ha ha ha ha. You know, it's soooo good to be back in here after so long. God has blessed me with a way to access the internet (and for a while I abused the privalege...), but I am back now and if I can ever get hotmail to work for me, all will be well.

Anyway, I read your idea to do some jamming and it sounds pretty neat. Hey, I play around in the Jazz Department a little bit myself. Jazz and Blues are both "feel" kind of music. But they have a different feel, you know. I feel right at home with Blues music, but I have to get into a mood for Jazz. But I have a good friend who loves to do nothing but jam out jazz tunes, so I am getting into it now. Sounds like a lot of fun, bro. I need to find a way to record, though. Isn't there some kind of program for computer to do that kind of thing by using a microphone or something? If we could both use the same kind of devise, it would probably be a snap, huh?

Oh, about Jimmie Vaughan. He is Stevie's older brother, and when they were just young boys thier dad bought them each a cheap guitar because they had a strong interest in it and thier family was a very musical one. Jimmie learned guitar first and passed on his knowlege to Stevie, who just soaked it up like a sponge. But while Stevie prefered the wild, feed-back sounds of people like (his idol) Jimmi Hendrix, Jimmie soon turned his style more towards the purer styles of people like B.B. King. You have probably heard a lot of Jimmie Vaughan and don't know it. He started a band back around the mid sixties, I believe, and it is still around. They have had some fairly decent success, so I know you have probably heard of them....The Fabulous Thunderbirds! Oh, and as while as I'm on the subject, Stevie and Jimmie did an album together...I cannot remember the title right now, but I know it's available on CD for sure.

You know, people like Stevie, Jimmie, and Eric Clapton are heros for me. Not only because they are some great musicians and I just love thier stuff, but also because they had to go through something I have had to go through. Alcohol and drug addiction. Those guys (and many others) have quit....and stayed sober....and I can really respect them for that! Thier stories have given me much strength and much in the way of courage to keep trudging down the sober road. In fact, I trully thank God for them and for all who do so and share thier story with the world.

Here is yet another band to check out if perhaps you like a little bit of Southern flavor to your Blues. Try some Alman Brothers Band, especially the stuff they did while Duane Alman was alive. A little more trivia and I shall go.... Did you know that Duane Alman and Eric Clapton were both in such complete awe of each other that when the day finally came that they met and tried to jam together, it almost didn't happen because they were both almost terrified to play one with the other. It's true! But they DID jam, and that led to both of them doing guest stints on records they were working on with thier repective bands. Cool huh? (You are right, I LOVE the Blues!!!)

Hey, God Bless and I will be really looking forward to our future "jam sessions" together. I really do love the music you have done, by the way. It kind of reminds me of a Jazz artist I like, but I can't remember his name right offhand...oh well, I'll remember it a day from now, probably. ha ha ha.

Love in Jesus Christ,
Chris

P.S.
Yes indeed, I too really dig folks like Johnny Lang and Kenny Wahne Shepherd. Jonny Lang began his professional career around the tender age of 12 or 13, believe it or not. He was REALLY cute back then, too! (HA! Once a Boylover, always a Boylover, huh?)
