Last night, we had a boy in the venue, about 12yo, dark ginger hair, ginger eyebrows, heavily freckled & tanned complexion, with rough stubby fingers & pointed ears (yes, pointed ears). I didn't bring this to his attention, during out brief chat, whilst I served him, cause he's probably been teased at school many times before & wouldn't want to hear it from me. So I came to the conclusion, that he must've been an Elf or a Vulcan! Really nice kid & I really hope I see him again. Another two who talked to me were a boy of about 10 & his 13yo brother. The 10yo, went on about how the numbers on the board were confusing & how he found it hard to know where they were staying. I didn't catch most of what he said, but then his brother started talking to me, about singing. He came across as a bit less advanced for his age, pleasant though. He asked if I could sing? I said "no, not really" (I can, but I was being cautious). He then said "can you sing - this song" (the one on the tape we were listening to). Again I said no. Then he said "Do you think I've got a good voice?" I replied "I don't know I haven't heard you sing!". With that his mother beconned them to leave & we said our goodbyes. I hope I see them again, their openness & willingness to talk may provide an opening. I think I saw them this morning. The oldest came out of his chalet & we looked at each other. The younger one joined him, looking at me. It was a bit like some spooky episode of the x-files, really, but that won't put me off. Maybe they will only recognise me in uniform, thats usually the way things are. TTYS - Halo |
