I agree we should definitely seek God's will above our own. My only question though, is...supposing God's will for you is to be a pastor, or to help the church financially, or to reach out to non-christians, or any other such role having nothing to do with boys. If you enjoy the company of boys and you choose to get involved in mentoring programs, is that wrong simply because you are doing it for yourself and for the boy(s) rather than as a command from God? Maybe God's plan for me is something else, but while I go ahead and fulfill his plan, I choose to use my free time to do things that I like, which include mentoring boys. Is that wrong? I dont think it is. If it were, then it would be wrong for non-christians to get involved in such programs since God did not lead them. Therefore I agree with you partially, we should seek out God's will and we should put his plan into effect, but having done that, there is nothing wrong with seeking out the things that make you happy on the side (as long as you arent putting anyone in danger). Unless of course, God shows you that he doesnt want you to do that (which is different from God showing you that he has a different plan for you). He may have a different plan for you, but you can do these things on the side and it would please God just as well.
