Maverick,

That was a bit of a twist I didn't expect. I was praying for the Salvation of Paul and it turns out to be a guard who wants to pray to be saved. I know Paul will eventually. I see God at work in all of this and it is so affirming for me to read this and know what you are doing will bear fruit. We don't often see that in youth ministry, as you know. The kids we help we give them as much guidance as we can, they go off and we never know half the time whether they live out the life we tried to teach them...one founded in faith. With this, I think you will see a change in the attitude of Paul and those around him. I"ve worked with a prison ministry called Kairos, it is Greek for "God's time." meaning that everything that happens, when people are saved, all happens at the right timing, even when we think they don't. I prayed yesterday for the Salation of Paul but it wasn't time yet; he still has questions and issues, but it WAS the right time for the prison guard.

It's also wonderful how kids are able to give us Wisdom when we think we are the ones who give it to them. The Bible does speak of how children are more like Christ, so pure, than even we as adults since, unfortunately, have had more experience in worldly wisdom than young ones. How wonderful that J and you help eachother, just as God had planned it. It makes my day to hear your words and read your story. I know that comes at a price of immeasurable sorrow, but the good that seems to be coming from it makes me think that the loss you and J have had to endure wasn't in vain like so many other accidents that become just a part of a statistic. I truely believe that Paul and this guard are just the first in a long line God has in mind to welcome into the family of faith.

That said, know that this family of faith is always here for you too. I guess you've been around these boards a while, even if you are new to this one. They have helped me immeasurably at times when I've needed it most too, and please e-mail me if you ever want to chat ministry, accountability, or whatever. If you don't, I probably will ;)

Blessings,
Oliver
