You and your guilt

I realize that you are reading these words with preconceived ideas about what they mean, but perhaps you should slow down and look at what the words actually say:

Eph 4:19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.

impurity = Aselgeia
unbridled lust, excess, licentiousness, lasciviousness, wantonness, outrageousness, shamelessness, insolence

Paul is talking about extreme behavior here: unbridled, excess, outrageous. I really don't think that he is talking about the kind of feelings that I have for my friends.

sensitivity = Apalgeo
to cease to feel pain or grief
to bear troubles with greater equanimity, cease to feel pain at
to become callous, insensible to pain, apathetic

Oops, you misrepresented the word of God - saying that it means something that it just doesn't say. Doesn't that scare you?

Jude even warns us of those in the church who use God's grace as an excuse to sin sexually.

Jude 1:4
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Lasciviousness here again is Aselgeia and I still don't think it applies to me. And you had to bring up Sodom and Gomorrah, another misrepresented story. In verse 7, Jude uses Ekporneuo, translated fornication - another sin I am accused of frequently.

fornication = Ekporneuo
to go a whoring, "give one's self over to fornication"

Actually, I did go whoring once in the Philippines. It was disappointing. But, I don't think that Jude is talking about the feelings that I have toward my friends, either.

To be fair, the usual word which gets translated fornication is Porneia:

fornication = Porneia
illicit sexual intercourse
adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, intercourse with animals etc.
sexual intercourse with close relatives; Lev. 18
sexual intercourse with a divorced man or woman; Mk. 10:11,
metaph. the worship of idols
of the defilement of idolatry, as incurred by eating the sacrifices offered to idols

I know you will hone right in on the homosexuality, but hold on. I would ask you to notice that all the things mentioned in this list are specific acts which have been proscribed somewhere in the Law, and not general categories. To further understand the meaning of the word, look at its root:

Porneuo
to prostitute one's body to the lust of another
to give one's self to unlawful sexual intercourse
to commit fornication
metaph. to be given to idolatry, to worship idols
to permit one's self to be drawn away by another into idolatry

Prostitute, unlawful intercourse, idolatry. Extreme acts which are clearly harmful. How you continually extrapolate these things into "Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!," (Col 2:21) is beyond me.
