Changing the world

I think we are changing the world here. I know Bach and others like to see it that way.

I'll explain my point in more detail. At one time I was attending a charismatic church. At one point they had some a prophet from another church come and visit, or a pastor with prophetic gifts, however you want to put it. A lot of people get excited and jump up and down a the thought of a prophet coming to visit to tell them all their innermost secrets and futures. Me, I'm a lot more cool about it. I figure if God has something specific to say to me, he'll get it through. Anyway, it turns out the prophet did come up to me, and he said this: "don't worry about all that other stuff [the usual stuff that charismatics go on about, like speaking in tongues], your gift is to be a teacher!" That got my attention, cause I come from a conservative evangelical background, and though I accept the supernatural stuff like tongues, I get concerned about them losing balance and making it the only thing in the Christian life. But "teaching" is something I can handle and understand. In fact, I then showed him some jotting I had for a kind of teaching programme I was informally having with a couple of the boys from church. But at that, he said "No, no, I don't just mean teaching by ones or twos, I mean teaching
before thousands!"

Now that freaked me a bit, cause I hate crowds and standing up making a show of myself before other people. I hate the leader worship that goes on in large congregations. So I thought to myself "Well, you got God's word in the first bit about teaching, but this extra bit must just be coming out of your own thinking."

So, I my job and training is not really related to teaching, and I've been wondering how ever it is I can make this teaching stuff a reality (of course he meant specifically teaching in the church, but I see that God's word is to be worked out in all areas of my life). I could see myself as a school teacher in the future.

But anyway, the thought has only started occurring to me over the last week or even the last few days. We have the internet. The Web. That is my medium! Here we speak to each other, one-to-one, as it were, in a small group. So I don't have to feel intimidated by speaking before a great crowd. But while we speak, who is listening? The internet is public. Thousands are listening!

It's true! Some time back I even got a short email from someone, completely anonymous (except for the return address). Just these two words "thank you". I don't know if it was something I said here or at BoyChat. I hope he doesn't mind me mentioning it. Maybe it was a she!? But there it is, the teaching thousands has already started!

So, actually, I really am inspired to open up a web-based support site for gay or gay-tempted Christians (boylovers welcome! Non-christians also!) It won't happen immediately, it's something I'd want to do in a local context with the support of a local church, partly so as not to double over forums like our CBF, but people all over the world are welcome to drop by! Something aligned with Heather's friends at Bridges Across the Divide I suppose.

Well, anyway, there's my plans for changing the world, with God's help. Or rather, God's plans for changing the world with my help ?
Now that I've mentioned it here, does that mean someone has to come and arrest me when I do go and do it ? ;)

Till next time! Give the young lady a kiss on the cheek, I'm sure she'll appreciate it :)
Ah yes! YF#5 was there thrice. I need to get my eyes checked :)

ps you don't just have to think about your YFs' security, you can think of your own too :)
