Oliver, that's a tough one! I'm not a teacher, so I have no real-life experience. From the teachers I know I get the impression that they think a "professional relationship" is the only one that works, otherwise you get problems with discipline or something. It's a good question. Seems to me if I were to become a teacher (I haven't ruled it out yet), I'd want to apply a friendship model as much as possible. Certainly though, you'd have to make sure you give fair attention to those who aren't "friends" also. My best suggestion is to find other teachers with whom you "resonate", and learn from them what they think. F.O.D. |
