The Commandments

Hi John Guard,

True, there are hundreds of commandments detailing what God expects from us, but I think they are pretty well summarized in what we call the "Ten Commandments". I am a great one to use analogy to convey what I believe God is telling us. His law is perfect, but where humans make their greatest mistake is in trying to fulfill the "letter" of the law, and not the "spirit" of the law.

In giving us His law, God created a perfect engine. But that engine will not operate at all without His love. His love as the oil in the crankcase. Try running an engine without oil, and see how long it will operate! Love (agape`) is the lubricant which allows His plan to operate smoothly, perfectly and flawlessly, and lets us fulfill the "spirit" of the law. He came to fulfill the law, not to destroy it.
