Hi Mark,

I share your vision to its fullest understanding; I just don't think society is ready yet. True, only 25 years ago, some nude photographic art was not considered pornographic, (even today it isn't really legally, but try telling mainstream society that.) and we had a progressive movement towards acceptance and peace, a revived movement of late it would seem, but I'm still concerned about those that won't even listen. It is going to take more than psychological evidence to convince many, especially some Christains, that pedophilia is not perverted. I know I sound somewhat pessimistic here, allow me the alternate, now.

Many, more than you would think, are interested in serious research to sexual orientation study, but everytime it is even attempted there's either a wall put up on both sides. At my university, some, myself included, have taken on part of this research. It is small, but growing in some of the more progressive and prominant institutions who are seeing a definate one sidedness to the research gained thus far, in that much was gained from those who were already incarcerated for crimes of abuse. My associates were intrigued by the history of pedophilia and what we can learn just by researching its origins. May I offer, then, that a first step to credible research of pedophilia is an understanding and account of its beginnings; there is so much we still don't know at this point, some we do. What we do know is not common knowlege. I also would and, then, that what we do know take its place in history books, where it belongs, even theological texts on the subject. I wonder if any siminary student has dared such a thesis.
My parents shuned at the prospect that I was even "interested" in such research.

Once history and credibility are established, perhapes your fourfold plan approch would be in a better place to persue objectively. We know so little, and as history is an unfortunate backburner subject in many parts of education, I fear no progress in this regard. One can always pray and hope. Your ideas warrent merit. I just think its a little down the road, hard to see yet. It certainly saves face for both sides, but culture's tendance to kill'n'conquer, only heightens the adrinaline rush of our witch-hunters. History has shown the death of a martyr rallys support toward understanding of what was previously misunderstood. That is why
MLK's dream lives on. Your's I hope can be the first to experience a peaceful comming. History can change, can we change with it?

A wesite is a good start. I do offer support there. My philisohpical arguments have left this part of your query unanswered. I had to read over again to see. I would only recommend an inclusion of what pedophilia once was and how its meaning has changed to soceties interpretation today. Maybe I'm volunteering just a consideration and a dream of my own. Take it for what it's worth, but I'm willing to bet that understanding who we were will prevent us from becomming what we don't want to be, a forgotten chapter of history wiped out becuase of ignorance.

One day,
Oliver
