Triple Q -
In addition to all of the valid (and perhaps more poigniant) points brought up by FOD and Heather, we come back to one of the most frustrating topics to BLs today, the one of arbitrary AOC laws. Our culture has been absolutely convinced that everything magically evolves at 18 years so that one is suddenly ready to have sex, to be married and to vote. It seems a bit suspicious that this is also the average age of high school graduation. Clearly, the laws keep kids in high school and to get them to at least finish a basic education before they run off and make their own decisions. However, they ignore the fact that different individuals mature at different rates. In biblical society, a woman really only had to be able to bear children and tend the house. The latter of these two skills was learned by young girls well before puberty and they all helped their mothers to raise younger siblings. So, it stood to reason that, as soon as they were ready to bear children (or to tie themselves to a man for whom later they would bear children) that they should be able to marry. Although plenty of 13 year old boys are physically capable of being fathers, clearly their roles are more complicated and have a better chance of being successful if they wait a few more years. I'm not sure if our society has the ability to lower the AOC laws because of the complicated task of sorting through who is ready to be an adult and who is not. Therefore, we've established this catch-all age of 18. For some kids the age works fine (it did for me)....for others...not so.

You are not alone.

Ben
