Hi d,

My own mission, as a BLer, both in and outside of the the BL community could be sumarized like this:

being there

God wants us to love all of our brothers and sisters. Before we start making them accountable, we necessarily must have relationships with them. So, the starting place is spending time in broken communities. I would never live in a suburban setting and presume to be able to come in and solve the problems of the inner city. But, if I move to the inner city, spend several years getting to know a neighborhood and its problems, build relationships of trust with my neighbors, then at some point down the road I will have an impact.

You stated:
say what I am, say I know what you are, try to be friends, receive help and give help as needed/wanted just as a good-hearted athiest would, and let God handle the rest

I think that you will see that this fits pretty closely with my own theology. We plant the seeds as loving Christians, and God builds on it, in His own time. This can be done by me, as a BL, or you as a non-BL. For obvious reasons BLs are more skeptical of your motivations than mine, which they assume to be the same as theirs.

But being questioned as to your motivations is no reason to be apologetic. On the other hand, are you sure that you have seriously examined your own motivations? Are there other issues that you aren't sharing? Is there a reason that you remain emotionally unattached while intellectually comitted?

There is a part of d that we are all still waiting to discover. But I have no doubt that you are here, and need to be here, for very good reasons.
May God bless your efforts as you journey with us.

Peace of Christ,
Bach
