Thanks much for taking the trouble - both in terms of typing and in terms of emotional energy - to post about this again. I think that the OldPosts index was trimmed recently, so that may have been how your previous post disappeared. I picked up on something this time that I hadn't caught when you told this story before. Am I right in understanding that what caused your older friend to start becoming distant from you was the discovery that you were a boylover? Because I'd always assumed from your previous accounts that he was reacting negatively to himself being a boylover. Or were the two connected in his mind? Similarly, when you told your story before, I jumped to the conclusion that your older friend believed that he was being tested by God through how he acted toward you, and that was why he had drawn away from you, but it sounds as though - perhaps in addition to the above? - he was concerned about you being tested by God through how you acted toward him and toward the boys in your high school. Is that right? Did your older friend have a double concern? Heather |
