Other than the Gospels (and when I'm angry at somebody, Obadiah), my favorite book in the Bible is the Song of Songs of Song of Solomon if you prefer. My pet peeve is that I never hear it quoted in Church. I don't expect if from a Fundamentalist Church; most Fundamentalists try to pretend that it does not exist, but I'm a Methodist. Anyway, last week I was at a wedding and I finally heard it quoted. And the joke was, it was in a Catholic Church. Even more uplifting was the fact that the happy couple had a six-month old son who they used as the ring bearer. Now, this may have been a more liberal church than most, but still, I never expected to see that. I came out of the wedding feeling that changes will come, even if they have to come from the bottom up. Anyway, my question is does anyone else ever remember hearing the Song of Songs being quoted in Church? Night Wolf, coming out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke. |
