Hi Andy, I didn't read your original post so I didn't make any guesses. Sorry about that. Your post started me thinking a bit, though, and I wanted to comment on it. As many people here know, I feel that I was fairly thoroughly traumatized by growing up in a fundamentalist Christian home - son of a Baptist minister. Most of what I remember of those experiences is very, very negative and frightening. Yet I love to listen to and sing hymns. The three you mention are running through my head right now. I remember my mother practicing an arrangement of "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" on our piano at home and teaching me the alto part so we could sing it together in front of the congregation. Music is a very positive, nice memory for me about Christianity. People are very complex, huh? Jim |
