I used to work with this guy. He was a big hulking dude. I've watched him lift 100s of pounds over his head and carry them around like they were a bundle of feathers. I've watched him in a fight with four other guys...in the end, he was the only one standing. One day he was in a car crash. He came out of it with a broken leg and a severely bruised body. The next day he was back to work, cast and all, carrying the 100s of pounds around. He wasn't a guy anyone wanted to miss with unless they were looking for a stay in the hospital. But one day they called him up to the office. He came back about fifteen minutes later, hunched over and tears rolling down his cheeks. "My wife left me," he said. Then he sat down in the middle of the floor and cried until there were no more tears to cry. The moral of this story? Words weight more than 100s of pounds. They have more punch behind them than four guys. And they can hurt you more than a car crash can. So think about what you are saying before you say it. |
