I have found this to be true, but the accent of that sentence is that one has to love oneself.... loving one's neighbour then follows automatically. Loving oneself is a lifetime love affair with oneself. Not an easy one as in the information we are supplied in the four gospels, Jesus never said how we should go about this loving oneself. However one gets a glimps of that in the Nag Hamaddi writtings, I think it is in the gospel of Phillip, in which Jesus says, that only through self-knowledge one can enter the kingdom of heaven.
