Gerald -
Thanks for your post. I'll give you my point of view, that of a fundamentalist Christian who believes that the bible is the inspired word of God.

God created man with a free will, understanding full well that man would be tempted by the beauty of the world and by his own flesh. In both the Old and New Testaments, God called men to deny their wordly desires and earthly interests out of sheer faith in he who created them. Such acts of faith are questioned continuously by those who insist that the world is as we see it and that we can do whatever we want to do as long as it doesn't hurt others. By doing so, we deny God's absolute power and love, because we are willing to reason away the example that God set for our lives (ie - Jesus).
If you read Hebews 11:1, you will see a long list of biblical men who made huge sacrifices by their trust in God.

I truly believe that God intends us to enjoy our sexuality, however I also believe that he created sex for us to enjoy within the covenant of marriage. Understand too, that my view is totally in contradiction to what I would LIKE or to how I have lead most of my life. Don't think for one second that I am happy to have this conviction. It is not an opinion that is convenient for me. But I can tell you that denying myself has changed my life considerably and for the better.

You are not alone.

Ben
