Hi Faith, And happy halloween. I don't do the trick-or-treat gig any more (although I probabaly am short enough to get away with it...ha ha ha). I just thought that I would curl up with my coffee and internet tonight, came in here, and got another "treat" so to speak. That was so inspiring. It made me think of something that kind of makes me a little ashamed, to tell you the truth. Where I work, every Christmas, we get a beautiful smoked ham. It is THE best I have ever eaten, and every year it is just as good as the last. Anyway, one year I had just gotten my ham and was driving home when I saw this man on the street corner. He held a sign that read,"Starving, Will Work For Food". I saw everyone just speed past him, and so did I. For a minut I thought about giving him my ham, but a stupid voice in my head told me something like,"No, don't do that. You and your family need that ham. Besides, he probably got that way because he is on drugs or something.". So I didn't do the thing my heart was just screaming for me to do. I have felt badly about this ever since. That is why your post made me really think! That woman could be all of us! We all have the same Holy Spirit she does, that made her do this very cool thing. That means that we ALL can do works just like that one, because the very same Spirit that gave her strength and inspiration, is living within each one of us. If only we can just see past our own wants and discover other's needs. Thank you, Faith, for sharing that. Love, Chris |
