Mark - It is interesting that you list 5 possible paradigms, two of which are faith related and three of which are not. I completely agree with you that BL is simply a variation on sexuality which comes from a variety of tendencies and environmental events in our lives. That is the mechanical cause of BL. However, the mechanics end up in place because (and of course this is just my take on it) God needs to humble us in order to work a perfect plan for our lives. Whether it is to bring us to him, to work with boys, or whatever, God needs us to be BLs. I thought that I would just touch on some of your comments about APA definitions and behavior therapy. The DSM no longer lists pedophilia as a disorder, but instead as an orientation which, when it 'makes us feel bad' is also considered to be pathological. Of course it strongly opposes sexual activity with children, but because it considers such activity to be harmful to the child. Interestingly (I remember reading this with total disappointment) it states that "attraction to boys" is permanent ("chronic").....ie: Incurable. I guess I could have told them that. Lets remember that the APA bases nothing on faith or God, but on hard empiracle evidence. Evidence shows that aversion therapy reduces the frequency of acting out by child molesters. Because we are talking about a scientific community, the altering of statistics is sufficient for them to support a technique. I was in aversion therapy for five years. It was voluntary and I paid alot of money for it and it REDUCED the frequency of masterbation (in my case). It "cured" nothing. I absolutely do not believe that aversion therapy does anything more than to change a person's external behavior. It left me devoid of love and emotional fulfillment and I had no trouble returning to my old behavior as soon as the therapy stopped. The only thing that has ever change my life is faith in God.
