Yes, the belief differences between Catholics and Protestants exist.

But the differences between United Methodists, Baptists and Presbyterians also affect how one views homosexuality, sex outside of marriage and so on.

And in fact, within any particular religious group you still find a wide variation. In North America today most mainline protestant churches are literally splitting over the issue of homosexuality.

I feel that even the Catholics are not as monolithic as they were say, in the fifties. Nowdays my local Catholic Archbishop is a "people-person" who wants to make the faith relevant and accesible to his diocese.

For example, I recently asked about Jesus's siblings. Heather as a Catholic, responded with a differing view than all the others.
First off, I don't think that Heather is a Catholic in the sense you are taking it. She responded as a Catholic would have.

And yes, there are many teachings that we have discussed where "camps" appear. But I know of a nun who is learning about protestant teaching in the area of restorative justice because she agrees with the theology and doesn't find it contradicts her religious background. Likewise, Sister Helen Prejean of "Dead Man Walking" has been embraced by many Protestants in a manner not unlike Mother Theresa.

It is always dangerous to assume a person holds a particular set of beliefs simply because others in a given group might be more vocal about their position. This is especially true of boylovers.

Peace of Christ,
Bach
