In general, addictions aren't a matter of frequency, but a matter of "can i stop" and "is it necessary". Breathing, eating, etc. are necessary to live and shouldn't be considered addictions or compulsions. If you drink coffee every hour, but could stop on a dime and stay stopped indefinately, you are not addicted (try it). But if you drink coffee only once a day but can't stop (either due to a biological caffine addiction or a psycholocial coffee addiction or compulsion to drink coffee or something every morning), you are addicted or have a compulsion problem. If you think you have a masturbation problem, try stopping cold turkey. If you miss it and it drives you nuts, you probably have a problem. If it doesn't drive you nuts or you don't miss it at all, you don't have a problem. That goes whether you masturbate every hour or every fortnight. -David, "d" |
