"Without explanation and context this event is irrelevant. It is the claim of the Christian faith that this event bought the possibility of forgiven for our sins and eternal life. Along with this package of explanation comes a moral code - whose legitimacy is reinforced because of the death and resurrection event. Accept the explanation offered - and you must then accept the moral code."

Ahhhh now, here we come to a problem. Different denominations and theologians come to differing conclusions about what that code might be. Virtually all the diffences, I might add, being based on what persons other than Jesus himself said. Perhaps you can recall his giving a moral code; I don't.

I do recall his answers to questions about what the greatest commandments were and his telling his disciples what they were to do: Love the Lord your God with your whole heart and love your neighbor as yourself. Love your enemies. Serve others as I have served you. Become one with me as I am with the Father.

With Jesus truly in our hearts, we'll be guided in his path. Personally though, I find it hard to be quiet enough to really listen.
