'Judge not' - no that's not the NT teaching

In the same passage where Jesus tells us not to judge, he warns us to 'Beware false prophets', whom we can only identify by judging.....

A wander through the New Testament turns up warning about 'testing all things', 'beware wolves in sheeps' clothing' etc. etc. It is because of an over reaction to the diviseness of the 19th century that the 20th has gone so completely overboard on 'not judging' - and as a result has thrown out the baby of sound doctrine with the bath water of legalism. Instead we have a church which really doesn't want to hear the truth, or call the world to repentence because it 'isn't nice'.

There is of course one group that they are (nearly all) happy to judge, of course - that's us.....

However I do owe Beloved an apology for jumping down his throat quite so hard at our first meeting; perhaps it's because this place is so important to me that any hint that people in favour of child sex will take over from those of us struggling to remain celibate is something of a red rag to the bull. But to the extent you are seriously committed to going God's way in your life as far as you know it, you are welcome and I hope you will find this board one that helps you along the way of discipleship.
