when I completely understand, in the light of the wholly unhelpful and irrelevant rant that Mr Smith has produced, why people give up on the church. It is that sort of input that makes me embarrassed to own up to the title 'Evangelical' that I would like to claim for my own. It is interesting to note that in all the reports of confrontations in the bible show a clear knowledge on the part of the challenger of the real nature of the belief structure of the people being challenged; that this has not occurred in this case reveals that our flamer has fallen short of his own standards! And on the whole I remain disappointed by the quality of the input from the wandering straight Christians who occaisionally show up on the board to 'Tell us the truth'. That they don't make the effort to get into real dialogue but tend to disappear again (OSH are you still around?!) to me indicates that there is no depth to the love they claim to have; as such they are bad ambassadors for the God whom we love. Which is sad. |
