I think that one view that is offered to link boylovers and the need to feel powerful goes like this: BLs (CLs) are afraid of power imbalance, and in an adult-adult relationship it's fairly likely that the other person is dominant or more powerful, if you wish. I personally hate both the idea of someone weak clinging to me and the idea of someone trying to tell me what to do and how to be. How ever, in an adult-child relationship the BL can always decided how the balance of power plays out and thus is more comfortable. I myself occasionally fantasize about a dominant boy but I would never take similar behaviour from an adult.
